Laid up for the weekend

Well, here I sit in bed for the weekend. I started a beginner's jogging class last month to get into shape but 2 weeks ago my knees decided to rebel against the plan. After a trip to the rheumatologist I was "reminded" that I shouldn't jog because it aggravates the arthritis. OOPS, my bad. Now I am paying for it. It gives me a chance to get updated on everyone's blogs. It is quite fun to see the pictures. I am also getting some time to get my Christmas cards finished. And watching old black and white movies.

December and Home Remodel

Well, It was MY idea to start remodeling 6 weeks before Christmas so I suppose I shouldn't complain that my house is a mess, I can't put up any decorations because they will be a dustball before too long, and I am going a little crazy. Here are some pics Hannah took today of the progress. We are actually starting to finish up. It should be done before January. The kids are very supportive and patient. The bad news is that I injured my knees last week and have had to stay in bed resting them most of the week. Now I have broken down and am using crutches to get around.

Kittens, Kittens, Kittens!!!

We are fostering ad new set of kittens. Six to be exact (and their mother). We have had them for 2 weeks. It is part of Sarah's Young Women's project. But we are all helping. The kittens are 3 sets of twins. And their names are Jade (mom) Churro (white kitten), Squirt (white kitten), Blaze (black kitten), Spice (black kitten), Sapphire (siamese), Cinnabon (siamese).
Lagoon August 14th, 2008.
Sarah, Hannah, and I went to Lagoon for the first time. We went with Lisa, Sterling, and Toft. It was a very hot day. Hannah and Sarah loved the Raptor Rapids (I think that is what it was called). It was a water ride that we got completely soaked. Going to Lagoon was fun because there wasn't really any lines. We got to do alot of fun things and eat funnel cake with strawberries, whip cream, and powdered sugar. Hannah's least favorite ride was the swings (shown above).
The next day Carl took Sarah and Hannah to Lagoon while I went to work. It was supposed to be a day for me to relax at home once I was done with work but I ended up staying there until 9pm. Carl and the girls made it home just 10 minutes before me. It was also our anniversary. Some anniversary!! But we had gone out to dinner with the girls earlier in the week to celebrate our 16th wonderful year of marriage. (sappy, huh?).

Hot Sunday in July

We are back from California. We loved visiting with everyone. It was fun to spend one on one time with each family. That is probably what I liked the most.

We drove to Bakersfield first and spent time with Grandma Juanita and Ray. Pizza, swimming, and Grandma sharing stories of her childhood. Next stop was San Luis Obispo to Trevor, Kiwi, and little Alina (and baby Kyla-to-be). We enjoyed cool weather and fabulous Tri-Tip sandwiches courtesy of Firestone Restaurant. We strolled downtown and walked past a beautiful mission. Then it was off to Marina to visit our CHP, Nate and Susanne and kids. Kaitlyn and Gavin became instant friends and Gavin was attached to Me for the duration of the trip (I loved it!!). We went to Lover's Point (or Cove or Beach) and saw Sea Lions, crabs, and other sea life.

Then off to Sacramento. A fun party greeted us Saturday evening to celebrate Dad's 72 birthday and Carl's 40th. Great Food, swimming, and a magic show to boot! Sunday we were able to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa at their townhouse. We went turkey searching and feather hunting, Grandpa taught Hannah Tricks, and I sat down with my dad and interviewed him about his childhood and life. Monday was shopping, shopping, shopping. Followed by the adults going out and watching Dark Knight. Tuesday we caught a temple session with Mom and had dinner at Jeff's house. Seeing the girls swinging in the trees with their cousins was priceless. Wednesday we left for home. Sad to leave, happy to have made the trip.

Thursday was Carl's birthday (officially). We had a picinic in the park with his family and came home to play Rock Band. It was a fun day.

So today we are resting, glad we got and air-conditioner for the house, and planning our next vacation.

St.Patrick's Day and Easter in the Same Week!!

Well, this will be my journal for now. I want to write about our Happenings this week. We went to an NBA game for the first time. The Utah Jazz vs. (I can't remember). We won that's all that matters. We went out to eat at Winger's before the game. We were watching the sports channel there and the program was about gruesome sports accidents and recreating them scientifically and in slo-motion. One particular injury was a NHL hockey player that was cut with a skate across his carotid artery in his neck. They showed footage of the injury with blood filling the ice. Then they filled a bag with blood to recreate the blood flow of the injury. We were laughing so hard. Here we were trying to eat and this was on TV. We asked if they would kindly turn the channel. Once at the game, we had a nice time and ate kettle corn. We got the tix free from our accountant and had a great time.

Who knew that Easter was right around the corner. For those who are into decorating this week must have been a headache. Good bye green - Hello easter eggs. I decided to spend Saturday with a girls day out. We went shopping for easter dresses. Hannah and Sarah found beautiful Black and White dresses and I found a pretty pale yellow dress. We also found some cute shoes to match. Then we were off to the movies to see "Penelope" A movie about a girl with a pig nose and ears. It is about liking yourself for who you are -good message to teens and pre-teens, and I guess moms too.

Easter morning brought baskets of candy and then we headed over the the George Shafer home for dinner. After eating the traditional easter bunny cake we went outside to find easter eggs. It was a nice visit.
